Bio
Born in O'Leary, at the western end
of Prince Edward Island John MacAllar has been writing songs for most of his adult life. In March, 2004 he released
a demo recording "Wonderment" ten original songs recorded at West Manor Productions, Slemon Park and Salter Street
Digital studios with engineer Ken MacCaull (Nathan Wiley, Marcella Richard). The styles are varied from Rock, Pop, Country,
Blues, Folk and the themes are personal, nostalgic, reflective experiences and perspectives of life from his childhood "Never
Let Go Of The Kid" teenage years "Times Have Changed" to the great Canadian pastime of hockey and it's parallells to life
"On The Ice" . Even his dog Odie, the Frank Sinatra of canines flexes his pipes in a little number called "Milk Bone Blues"
He's shared the stage with such performers
as Charlie Acourt, Wintersleep, Kris Taylor, Scott Parsons, Terry Hatty, Chris Corrigan, Chuck and Albert and many others. As
a solo artist performing festivals John sings folk songs about P.E.I. , of historical and Maritime Life as he sees it, from
the demise of the P.E.I. railroad, the plight of the farmer, to Dandilions in June. When he performs cover and original songs
at pubs across the Island and at his monthly Hearth and Cricket gig in Charlottetown audience participaction is important.
Power to the people and lets raise the roof is his motto. The more involment the higher the decibels , the more success. Everyone
can sing is Johns philosophy.
At present John has called on Haywire member Ron
Switzer to engineer his upcoming project "Stargazin" a collection of ten rock songs.
